Hello! My name is Mike Myers. I grew up in the town of Potosi, a small Southwestern Wisconsin farming community. After high school I moved to Madison for 3 years, then on to Boston, Massachusetts for 2 years.
I moved to Florida in October of 2007 to attend motorcycle mechanics tech school in Ormond Beach; 20 miles North of Daytona Beach. At the time I was planning to start a career in the motorcycle industry, though after several months of school I met a glass artist and was soon invited to try my hand at working glass. After the first day I knew I wanted to have my own studio. I knew I found the perfect hobby! Over the next few months, I spent every moment available working in the studio, learning the basics of borosilicate lampworking.
In June of 2007 I moved back to Southwest Wisconsin and found a job as a Harley Davidson motorcycle salesman. By chance, I met a talented local lampworker and began working glass again in late January 2008.
With my girlfriend Renee, we recently established our own home studio in the town of New Glarus, Wisconsin. Together we formed Mike Myers Designs, Inc., a small business with the purpose of sharing custom-made glass art with the world.
